In November, the then Society president, David Hand, was among the senior scientists and scientific advisors reported as signatories to a statement of principles for the treatment of independent scientific advice. The statement was in response to the controversy following the sacking of David Nutt, chairman of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD).
