Submission of abstracts for the Australian Statistical Conference, on the theme Statistics in the West: Understanding our World, has been extended to Monday 14 June.

The conference, which takes place from 6-9 December 2010 in Fremantle, Western Australia, will be followed by OZCOTS from 9-10 December which has the theme Building Capacity in Statistics Education.

Conference workshop topics include:

• Capture-recapture models using Mark and other software
• Introductory analysis of linked health data
• Advanced analysis of linked health data
• Introduction to R
• Analysing spatial point patterns in R

The conference is aimed at professional statisticians, students and practitioners involved in all areas of statistics including financial, industrial, environmental, computing and education, medical and biological sciences, surveys, management and mining, plus people involved with the broader aspects of collecting and analysing data.
