October course to inspire leaders in statistical organisationsCourse summaryHal Varian, Chief Economist for Google, recently commented in an article for McKinsey Quarterly that “the sexy job in the next ten years will be statistician.” He went on to say that “…the ability to take data – to be able to understand it, to process it, to extract value from it, to visualize it, to communicate it – that’s going to be a hugely important skill in the next few decades.” Analytical champions like Hal Varian are helping to raise the profile of statisticians and their important role in society. It is important, also, to recognise that as the business world becomes more complex, so do statistical leadership skills. This workshop aims to enhance participant’s understanding of effective leadership behaviours; increase their understanding of techniques for sustaining high performance teams; and to enhance their overall impact and effectiveness through increased self-awareness and the use of productive communication approaches. FormatThe event will be a dynamic mix of discussion, practise, feedback, tutor input and breakout groups.
