Top scorers in India's second Statistics Olympiad will be recognised during the Fourth Statistics Day celebrations on 29 June 2010.

Some 345 junior level and 61 senior level school students took part in the contest on 5 June. The Olympiad uses a special grading scheme to pick up those with an aptitude for statistical reasoning and dealing with numbers.

Dr C R Rao conceived the contest to identify talented young statisticians in February 2009. The first Indian Olympiad took place at the CR RAO Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS) at the University of Hyderabad, India last June. Around 250 students participated and the top 20 were recognised at the third Statistics Day celebrations on 29 June.
