Are job-training programmes effective?Professor Donald Rubin, John L Loeb Professor of Statistics at Harvard University, will be giving a special lecture on methodological issues in the evaluation of a job-training programme. The lecture will take place 5.30-6.30pm, Tuesday 12 October at the British Academy in London, and will be followed by a reception. Don Rubin has made, and continues to make, many important contributions to statistical methodology and its wider application. He is a leading authority on causal inference in experiments and observational studies. In the 1970s he developed an influential common framework for causal analysis which continues to underpin cutting-edge research in both mathematical statistics and quantitative social science. The lecture will draw on his research in this field with examples from both social science and medicine. For more details go to the rssenews events calendar. |
