Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education seeks two new members May 3, 2011: The Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (ACME) is seeking two new members to work independently and within teams on projects that will help shape Government policy and influence the work of its stakeholders.

There has been much media and public interest in the measurement of well-being since the Prime Minister asked the National Statistician on 25 November to come up with a way to measure the nation’s well-being outside economic indicators.

RSS calls for comprehensive review of inflation measures Aug 31, 2010: A comprehensive review of issues relating to the measurement of inflation is being urged by the President of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), David Hand, in a letter to the chair of the UK Statistics Authority, Sir Michael Scholar.

Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (ACME): 2 new members sought Feb 1, 2010: ACME is now seeking two new members. Candidates are expected to have current or recent experience of teaching within schools and/or colleges, some knowledge of the education policy landscape and/or be willing to develop associated skills through membership of the Committee. ACME welcomes applications by 8 March 2010 from across the full range of interests, but for one of the vacancies seeks someone with experience of secondary education.

'Whose Statistics?' – conference of the Radical Statistics group, February 27 Jan 3, 2010: The Radical Statistics Group, known for its social perspectives on statistics in society, making research contributions to campaigns on health, education, race and the nuclear industry, has published the programme for its London conference this February.
